Van Dijk, who has been a pivotal figure at Liverpool, has made 25 appearances this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist across all competitions.
At 33, Van Dijk's current contract with Liverpool is set to expire at the end of the season, making him eligible to sign a pre-contract with clubs outside England from January 1.
However, according to a report by Relevo, Real Madrid have no interest in securing the Dutchman's services. The Spanish giants believe they are well-equipped with defenders like Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao, and David Alaba, with confidence that Militao and Alaba will return to top form after injuries.
After being rebuffed by Madrid, Van Dijk has reportedly decided to commit his future to Liverpool. Sources close to the club suggest that a new contract is close to being finalized.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated, "Liverpool are confident they will convince Van Dijk to sign a new deal," indicating ongoing negotiations.
This news comes amid concerns over other key Liverpool players, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, whose contracts also end in 2025.
While there's been speculation linking Alexander-Arnold with Real Madrid, Liverpool are actively working to retain all three players, as confirmed by Romano in late December, "Liverpool are negotiating with all three players, Van Dijk, Salah, and Alexander-Arnold."
On the transfer front, Real Madrid's interest doesn't stop at Liverpool. They have shown interest in Bournemouth's Dean Huijsen, who has made a notable impact this season.
Conversely, Liverpool are rumoured to be preparing a bid for Real Madrid's midfielder, Aurelien Tchouameni, seen by manager Arne Slot as an ideal addition to the squad.
The transfer window promises to be eventful, with both clubs looking to strengthen their teams while ensuring their star players remain committed.
As the football world watches, it's clear that Liverpool are moving swiftly to secure Van Dijk's loyalty, potentially keeping their defensive stronghold intact for seasons to come.
