The 19-year-old's move follows a series of negotiations that began on Monday when Betis officials Manu Fajardo, Ramon Alarcon, and Joaquin travelled to Barcelona. The agreement was finalised on Saturday, with Roque travelling to Sevilla to complete the transfer and sign his contract.
While the exact terms of the deal have not been disclosed, it has been confirmed that Roque will be on loan to Betis for the remainder of the 2024/25 La Liga season, with the option to extend the loan for an additional year.
Various sources suggest that this second year will be activated if Roque meets a set number of appearances. Betis also have the option to purchase up to 80% of Roque's rights at the end of this season or the next if the loan is extended.
The purchase option is reportedly set at 25 million euro for 2026, though a lower fee could apply if Betis choose to buy him next year. If Barcelona exercise their right to repurchase Roque, Betis would retain a percentage of any future sale.
Roque, who has already completed his medical and signed his contract, will begin training under Manuel Pellegrini and could make his debut in Betis' upcoming match against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in La Liga on Sunday.
Roque was Barcelona's marquee signing during the last winter transfer window, with the club paying 30 million euro upfront, plus an additional 31 million euro in potential add-ons.
Despite making 14 league appearances and scoring twice, he only accumulated 353 minutes of playtime, leading to his decision to seek more regular game time with Betis.
Pellegrini now has the final piece for his attacking setup in Roque, who brings strong presence in the box, speed, and a proven ability to finish, qualities he demonstrated in Brazil.
Betis' technical staff have been tracking Roque for some time and have now seized the opportunity to strengthen their squad with this promising talent.
