We are in negotiations with many clubs and players – Kaizer Motaung Junior

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Junior has assured the club’s multitudes of fans that they are hard at work behind the scenes trying to strengthen the team in the current transfer window.

Motaung’s assurance comes at a time when some Chiefs fans have grown impatient with what they perceive to be a slow approach from the club in this current transfer window. He insists that they are looking at signing a couple of players.

"I think it's always a sensitive topic because we would love as a team to be able to be transparent and speak to the people, I mean our people and fans are the most important people and stake holders,” Motaung said.

“We respect them tremendously highly and I really wanna take away the connotation that the club is not doing anything, the club does not respect its supporters, they are everything to us.

“We do everything for them and it will be foolish for us not to be doing anything at this point and time. We gotta respect the players that we do have, give them the confidence for them to be able to do their job in the field but we are very much aware of the areas that we need to strengthen.

“We're even working tirelessly every day, with the technical staff, with the management, with the committee to make sure that we make the right decisions and we obviously have been engaged with many clubs, with many players."

Chiefs have been linked with quite a number of players in this transfer window, from Bafana Bafana and Polokwane City star attacker Oswin Appollis to Tanzanian international and Azam FC midfielder Feisal Salum.

But Motaung says they still have to respect the clubs they are engaging with and not share their business publicly.

"But it's very disrespectful to come out and speak about other club's players. I know people want to know information, they want to know progress, we would love to share that. For us, not saying anything, it's us not disrespecting anybody, it's us not being negative or us sitting in the office doing nothing,” he added.

“I really wanted to say that because if I speak outside here and speak about every single player from a different team, I'll be doing a big disservice to the manager of the team and to the player.

“We have to respect our colleagues but we do want the fans to know and our stakeholders, our sponsors, we are doing everything we can to make sure that in certain areas, we can strengthen but also we also understand that we have the June window so we're preparing on two folds because there's a short term but we also have to prepare for the next season.

“So, we're taking the steps that we can and we are working very tirelessly behind the scenes."
