What Kaizer Chiefs can expect from Bradley Cross - Musa Bilankulu

Golden Arrows assistant coach Musa Bilankulu says Kaizer Chiefs can expect a multifunctional player, who effectively covers the left-back and left centre-back positions, in new signee Bradley Cross.

Amakhosi this past week welcomed Cross from Arrows, after activating a R3 million buyout clause in his contract, with the former SC Schalke and Newcastle defender set to provide cover to Bafana Bafana newcomer Rushwin Dortley.

Bilankulu says they have lost a reliable defender.

"He came as a left-back, but later on we used him as a left-centre-back because he's got a good left foot, he can play out of the back easily, and he's got a good understanding at centre-back to cut the balls, anticipate and read the game more," said Bilankulu.

"And he's a player that, when you wants to build into your attack, he can help you play out from the back."

Cross, who was born in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, and came through the Bidvest Wits juniors, had also trained with Chiefs before his successful trial at Maritzburg United (now Durban City).

Bilankulu says the 23-year-old’s departure came as a shock to the technical team, but it was understandable during the transfer window.

"Obviously it was a shock that he is leaving, and he's left a void because he was starting to have a good partnership with [Gladwin] Shitolo, but fortunately enough we've been having other combinations.

"So it's just a matter of activating the player that has to take over from [Cross], to make him ready, get his confidence up, and make sure he's ready to start the season."
