The 24-year-old was promoted to the senior team during Micho Sredejovic as well as Rulani Mokwena’s tenure with the Soweto giants, and having been a regular this past season Monyane sees that as motivation for those in the reserve team.
''I'm quite happy because I feel like God has set a light upon me to open the doors, to help the MDC graduates to tell them that it is possible regardless of your age. I am happy for the likes of Relebohile Mofokeng coming in, he got young player of the season and now he is in the Bafana camp, it goes to show that it is possible when you put your mind to it,'' said Monyane.
Although he has been considered by Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos in the past, Monyane remains on the periphery.
But he wants that to change.
''Giving up is never an option, you need to work hard. There's so much to play for, and I know for sure that I will work hard and get that Bafana call up, and the sky is the limit from there,'' added Monyane.
Monyane feels competition for places at Pirates will also play a role in making him a better player in his national team pursuit.
''Yes, definitely and it's not only a competition, it's healthy competition and we have a brotherhood. If I am not playing I support everyone who is playing on the field, including my position and they also do the same,'' he concluded.
In throwing forward to the upcoming 2024/25 season, Monyane also pointed out areas where Pirates need to improve to close the gap on champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
