Xavi Alonso confirms Victor Boniface’s absence amid Saudi Arabia move talks

Nigerian striker Victor Boniface was absent from Bayer Leverkusen's training ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash against Sparta Prague at Bay Arena on Wednesday night, as speculation over his potential move to Al Nassr intensifies.

Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso confirmed that the club is engaged in discussions with the Saudi Arabian side regarding Boniface's transfer, which is reportedly valued at 50 million Euro.

As a result, Alonso has acknowledged that he will be without his prolific forward for the upcoming match but remains confident in the squad at his disposal.

"There are discussions with the club, and we need to wait. We're preparing without Boni," Alonso told reporters on Tuesday.

"We will see. We need to wait a bit more, but our preparation is with the rest of our squad, who are ready, fit, and in good shape at the moment. It's the last Champions League game, and that's our focus."

Boniface recently returned to training with Leverkusen after recovering from an injury sustained while on national duty with the Super Eagles late last year. The 24-year-old has been a standout performer for the German club, registering 29 goals and 11 assists in 49 matches.

Should the move to Al Nassr materialize, Boniface will join a growing list of high-profile players making the switch to the Saudi Pro League, further strengthening the league's reputation as a rising football powerhouse.
