Zinnbauer sacked, Fadlu set for crunch talks

SABC Sport can reveal that coach Fadlu Davids is set to meet with the Lokomotiv Moscow hierarchy to discuss his future following drastic changes in the technical team set up of the Russian Premier League side.

It was confirmed last night by the club that head coach Josef Zinnbauer, who recruited Davids to come work as his assistant just two weeks ago having formed a close bond during their spell at Orlando Pirates, had been sacked.

According to the statement Zinnbauer was fired alongside sporting director Thomas Zorn after a string of poor results - two wins in 12 matches, leaving Lokomotiv third from bottom having lost five games in a row.

Davids told SABC Sport in a recent interview that Zorn had personally discussed the club™s long-term project with him, so with him gone it remains to be seen what the future holds for the South African.

Indications are that Davids has been called into a meeting with the club to have discussions regarding his role now that the two men instrumental in him moving abroad when it was thought he would get a job in the Premier Soccer League have been sent packing.

Since leaving Pirates when his contract ended in June, the former Maritzburg United coach had been monitoring local clubs until he got the call from Moscow.

But it now appears as though he could be back home sooner than he thought, unless the Lokomotiv hierarchy feel he has much more to offer.
