Zwane responds to Broos' player criticism

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has responded to comments from his Bafana Bafana counterpart Hugo Broos about the quality of some PSL players on the field when the national team beat Botswana 1-0 at the FNB Stadium last night.

Broos™ comments came after he gave a number of players their Bafana debuts, including some who earned their first starts after previously making cameo appearances as substitutes.

Among those given a chance against Botswana was Chiefs attacker Ashley Du Preez, while Kgaogelo Sekgota was part of the initial group that earned praise following the 4-0 demolition of Sierra Leone on Saturday.

Zwane, who has represented the country on nine occasions, has a different take to Broos on the matter and believes the more a player represents the national team, the better he becomes.

"If a player doesn't have a cap, he'll always not be ready until he is settled. The more he plays in the national team, the better for the player. Because if he doesn't get an opportunity at all, there's no way he can be better," argued 'Mangethe' during Amakhosi's media day ahead of this weekend's MTN8 semifinals.

"So, that's how I see it - even me, as a player, the more I was getting games with the national team, the better I was getting at the time. So, if you're not going to be getting that call-up then how will you improve as a player?

"Because the only time you can get better is if you're given the opportunity [to play]."
