The Argentine maestro has been keeping a close eye on his former club's progress and is full of praise for the team's promising performances under Hansi Flick this season.

Speaking recently about his ties to the Catalan city and its iconic club, Messi admitted he yearns for a return someday.

"In our minds, my family and I always think about going back to live in Barcelona. We miss it deeply, my wife, my children, and I.

"My sons are Catalan, and I spent my entire life there. It's our home," Messi said.

"You never know what the future holds, but our intention is to return because Barcelona is where we belong."

Hansi Flick, Barcelona's head coach, responded warmly to Messi's sentiments during a press conference on Saturday. "It's an honour to hear the greatest player in history express this connection to the club," said Flick.

"He follows us closely, and it's clear his heart is still here. That means a great deal to everyone at Barcelona."

Barcelona's strong start to the campaign, fuelled by a blend of experienced stars and La Masia's rising talents, seems to have impressed Messi.

While his immediate future is across the Atlantic, his words have once again underscored his enduring bond with the Blaugrana faithful.
