Aiden Markram finds form to help Lucknow Super Giants to second win of IPL season

Aiden Markram made his first significant score of the 2025 IPL season when he struck 53 to help the Lucknow Super Giants to a 12-run victory against Mumbai Indians on Friday.

The Proteas batter scored his runs from 38 balls and shared in an opening stand of 76 with Australian Mitchell Marsh (60 off 31 balls) as the Super Giants posted a total of 203-8.

There were other contributions down the order from Ayush Badoni (30 from 19 balls) and South Africa's David Miller (27 off 14 balls) as the Super Giants went above the 200-run mark.

The Mumbai Indians run-chase did not get off to the best starts as they lost the wicket of opening pair Will Jacks (5) and Ryan Rickelton (10) with only 17 runs on the board.

Naman Dhir (46) and Suryakumar Yadav (67) then put on a stand of 69 to bring Mumbai back in the game but Lucknow struck a double towards the end to remove both batters.

Mumbai skipper Hardik Pandya tried his keep in the match with an unbeaten 28 from 16 balls but it was not enough as his team could only reach 191-5 in their 20 overs.

The Super Giants' next fixture is on Tuesday when they take on Kolkata Knight Riders while Mumbai Indians play RCB at home on Monday.
