Kagiso Rabada returns home from IPL 'to deal with an important personal matter'

Proteas fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has left his IPL franchise Gujarat Titans and returned to South Africa 'to deal with an important personal matter'.

Gujarat confirmed the news in a statement but did not specify what the reasons for the paceman's return home was.

Rabada played the first two matches in this year's franchise T20 tournament, taking 1-41 in the defeat to Punjab Kings, and then returning figures of 1-42 in the victory against Mumbai Indians.

He missed Wednesday's eight-wicket win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and his absence was attributed to personal reasons.

Gujarat have another Proteas fast bowler in their squad in Gerald Coetzee and he could replace his countryman in a like-for-like swap in the starting line-up.

The next fixture for Gujarat is an away game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday, after which they host Rajasthan Royals on 9 April.
