Bangladesh secure first-ever Test series win against Pakistan
Bangladesh achieved a landmark Test series win over Pakistan, clinching the series 2-0 with a decisive six-wicket victory in Rawalpindi.
Chasing a target of 185, Bangladesh completed the chase comfortably, marking their first-ever Test series triumph against Pakistan.
Having triumphed at the same venue a couple of weeks ago, Bangladesh required their third-highest successful Test run chase to deny Pakistan the chance to escape from the two-match series with a draw on the final day.
There were contributions throughout the top order and old-stagers Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan got them over the line midway through the fifth afternoon to seal a famous 2-0 series win for Bangladesh.
The Tigers at one stage slipped to 26 for six in their first innings but a majestic 138 from Litton Das, allied to 78 from Mehidy Hasan Miraz, saw them close to within 12 of Pakistan's 274.
Fast bowlers Hasan Mahmud and Nahid Rana then took centre stage, sharing nine wickets as Pakistan were all out for 172 to leave Bangladesh a tricky fourth-innings chase.
Zakir Hasan made a fluent 40 off 39, while all of Bangladesh's top six went past 20, before Shakib hit the winning runs to lift the tourists up to fourth in the World Test Championship table, ahead of England.
