Bosch ran out in Sunday's Pink Day defeat at the DP World Wanderers before donning the all-whites in the ongoing first Test at SuperSport Park yesterday.
The Titans all-rounder, who is all too familiar with the conditions of his home ground, is delighted to have achieved a life-long dream and his 2024 goals – all in the space of five days.
"Yeah, I think someone needs to pinch me at this moment. A couple of months ago I would have never thought I would be sitting here and now, one of my goals for the year was to play two formats for the country and as you said in a matter of five days I played my debut in two different formats and I'm incredibly honoured to represent my country. So, I'm super grateful at this point in time," Bosch said.
Bagging an impressive 4/63 inside 15 overs in his maiden Test innings was made more special by the Boxing Day atmosphere at the Centurion match venue.
"Yeah, I mean, SuperSport Park as you can hear the atmosphere, every single time there's a little bit of movement in the game, the fans are behind you and they make so much noise,” he added.
“It's a fantastic place to play cricket and for me, it's a really special place to play cricket. So, I couldn't have asked for a better first day of Test cricket.”
Bosch is one of only four previous Proteas bowlers to have claimed a wicket with the first ball of his career, after Dane Piedt, Hardus Viljoen and Tshepo Moreki, and he reflected on how special a moment it was.
"Firstly, I was just happy it bounced. The nerves weren't as bad as Sunday but they were still there especially when I waited through our first session, I didn't bowl before drinks.
“So, I thought 'Am I even gonna bowl in this game?' at some point but KG [Kagiso Rabada] was bowling beautifully. Then Temba [Bavuma] gave me the ball and next thing I knew I had taken my first international wicket which I couldn't even have dreamt of.
“Even when I was telling myself last night what would be one of the greater things to achieve today and that was definitely not what I would have thought."
