The Proteas Women will take on hosts India in three ODIs, a one-off Test and three T20Is from 16 June in what will be their first series since the departure of long-term coach Hilton Moreeng, who had been at helm for close to a decade.
Batter Tazmin Brits has returned to the 16-player touring party as she nears a full recovery from knee surgery that she had in April.
Among the nationally contracted players absent from the trip are batter Lara Goodall (minor hamstring), allrounder Chloe Tryon (back) and seamer Ayanda Hlubi (groin), who are all still recovering from injuries.
The squad for the T20Is series, taking place from 5-9 July, will be confirmed during the tour.
Du Preez said: "Everyone's excited and looking forward to the tour to India. So far, preparation has been great. We had a big focus on options against spin and it was good to see the buy-in from the team.
"We also have new management involved, so this would be a great opportunity for them to find their feet before we come back and start our preparation for the World Cup.
"The key for us would be to assess the conditions as soon as possible, be calm under pressure and try and play key moments in the game better than the opposition. We all know a series against India in India will always be tough."
Before departing for India on 8 June, the Proteas Women, who will be led by top-order batter Laura Wolvaardt, will gather for a camp in Tshwane to fine-tune their skills in preparation for the conditions in the subcontinent.
The tour will start with a warm-up match against and India Board President's Women XI on 13 June in Bengaluru before the three ODIs in the same city on June 16, 19 and 23.
Chennai will then host the one-off Test from 28 June and the three T20Is on 5, 7 and 9 July.
