Pakistan cruise to ODI win over South Africa

Pakistan defended a score of 308/9 to beat South Africa by 36 runs in the final ODI of the season at the Wanderers on Sunday.

Saim Ayub was again at the forefront of everything positive for the travelling team with 101 from 94 balls.

The Proteas' bowling left a lot to be desired as they conceded 100 runs in the last 12 overs of Pakistan's innings.

Saim's dismissal at the end of the 35th over provided an opportunity for South Africa to get on top of this tie.

They picked up three wickets for just an additional 14 runs in 18 balls, including the dismissals of Saim and Mohammad Rizwan, who'd shared a partnership of 93.

Pakistan ultimately reached 308 in an innings reduced to 47 overs because of rain.

Tayyab and Agha Salman contributed with a 74-run sixth wicket partnership from only 47 balls.

Babar Azam went on to hit 52 after being dropped by Bjorn Fortuin on 10, while mis-fields on the ground cost the Proteas an extra 15 runs.

Heinrich Klaasen did his best to launch an assault with his third half century of the series, making 81 off only 43 balls as debutant Corbin Bosch scored an unbeaten 40.

But it wasn't enough as the Proteas lost by 36 runs according to the DLS method, for their sixth defeat in nine ODIs this year.
