SA20 confirms R70-million prize for inaugural season

The inaugural campaign of the SA20 league is fast approaching and it has since been announced that the prize money on offer for the six competing franchises is set at R70-million.

The battle will commence on January 10 between MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals – a clash that will feature the likes of Proteas stars Kagiso Rabada, Rassie van der Dussen, Lungi Ngidi and David Miller.

“We have worked hard to offer a rewarding and unprecedented incentive in the first season of Betway SA20," Graeme Smith, SA20 commissioner, said in a statement on Tuesday.

"This is a first for South African cricket, we have never had this type of competitive incentive in our domestic cricket and it is a further indication of SA20’s ambitions to positively impact South African cricket.”

The six teams, which are all backed by Indian Premier League franchises, will battle it out for a spot in the final on 11 February set to take place at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

Tickets for all 33 matches are available at the six stadiums as well as online through Ticketpros.co.za.
