According to Kaizer Chiefs winger Kgaogelo Sekgota, Foster’s move from Belgian top-flight side KVC Westerlo to the English Championship log leaders has allowed locally-based players to once again dream of playing in Europe’s top leagues.

"I think Lyle is a good player and he deserves to be where he is, and we are proud of him as South Africans. I wish him good luck and [may] God bless him," Sekgota said.

"Obviously we have numerous South Africans [go abroad], which is good for the country. Seeing Lyle there also motivates us as South Africans."

Sekgota, who previously plied his trade in Lithuania and Portugal before returning home to Bidvest Wits, Swallows FC and now Chiefs, says Foster’s move and the recent departure of teammate Njabulo Blom to the USA is a step in the right direction for SA footballers to realise the importance moving abroad.

"I think every opportunity in life is very important for every human being, and being South African representing South Africa outside is something good for the country. We wish everyone [playing abroad] well to get success," he added.

Meanwhile, Chiefs midfielder Yusuf Maart comes a long way with Foster after the two played together in the Orlando Pirates junior structures, and he believes the 22-year-old’s hunger to achieve will take him far.

"To be honest, I'm happy for him because I was playing with him at the development at Pirates, so from my point of view, he must just keep on working hard, putting the effort in, and just scoring more goals, which is his strength," said Maart.

"Nothing makes any player special but if you have the hard work, effort and desire to be where you want to be. He just needs to put [that] into training every day, to want to score goals as a striker, it's possible for him because he's that kind of player."
