The match is set to take place at Orlando Stadium in South Africa. Song is confident that Cameroon has the potential to redeem themselves from their previous 1-1 draw in Yaounde and secure their place in the finals.
Currently leading Group D with four points, Song has set high expectations for his team. He stated, "We are here to attain the objective we had set from the beginning. We are here to do better than we did in the previous game. I believe my players have the quality to do that. It is going to be a completely different team."
The Cameroon team has a strong history of success, with five African championship titles under their belt. However, Song acknowledges the challenge ahead, and said: "We respect the opponents as they deserve to be respected, but we want to qualify."
Song's success as coach of Cameroon includes their 2-1 victory over Algeria during the play-off of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. While he has not yet won a game at home, he believes his team may perform better away. "Maybe we are better away than we are at home. We have been in this situation before. It's nearly the same situation. We want to win here and qualify. We have not come here to make jokes."
Cameroon will be boosted by the return of captain Vincent Aboubakar, who missed the first game due to suspension. However, they will have to navigate injuries to Eric Maxim Choupo Moting, Karl Brilliant Toko Ekambi, Fai Ngoran Collins and Christopher Maurice Wooh. Olivier Kemen, who scored in the previous match, is also an injury doubt.
Cameroon and Namibia have previously met three times, with Cameroon winning twice and one match ending in a draw. Namibia needs a win to secure their qualification to the 2023 AFCON in Cote D'Ivoire.
In his parting words, Song emphasised the importance of this match for his team, saying, "We want to win here and qualify. It is important for us to show that we are a strong team and we can achieve great things."
