Africa's major sport championship resumed on Wednesday at Gary Player Country Club in Sun City until Sunday 8 December, with 66 players competing for the coveted prize.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Quinn says he is looking forward to seeing what some of the youth South African competitors will have to offer this year.
"Firstly the field is an amazing field, we've got some of the best golfers in the world. We've got people from the US, Canada, and right across Europe and some of our South African boys are here which is amazing,” Quin said.
“Some youngsters coming through our Sunshine Tour which does great work for the development of our South African golfers. We've got a couple of our South African kids that have been overseas and they are coming back to play so it's a nice combination of South African home grown talent against some of the best in the world and that creates a great story for golf."
Defending champion and world No. 15 Max Homa is the headliner this year and aims to repeat his impressive victory from 2023.
Quinn speaks about the privilege of experiencing the course with him on Tuesday.
"Yes, I was privileged enough to play with Max Homa yesterday and I would say that he's come back to win. You know, just like the Springboks I think he's intending to do a double and he's really focused on that,” he added.
“So, I think on current form he's gotta be up there. I think Thriston Lawrence is another South African who's really in contention. Christiaan Bezuidenhout is also in contention but then again, if you look at that field you got a couple of guys from Europe that could come through strongly. So, it's so hard to call. If it was me I would certainly for Max that he could defend his title."
