Project Manager at the SA Hockey Association Gary Dolley told SABC Sport that she commends the efforts of Pandas Hockey Club in aligning with SA Hockey's main objective of accelerating sport development programs in townships.

"They are setting a high bar for the other hubs to follow. The hub will become a hive of youth activity. And this will draw many to the sport of hockey in Soweto,’’ Dolley said.

The Soweto Hub Modified Hockey Programme aims to promote physical activity, teamwork, and leadership skills among participants - while fostering a love for the game.

Through inclusive and accessible opportunities for participation, the programme seeks to inspire and empower youth in the Soweto community.

Speaking to SABC Sport, founder of Pandas Hockey Club, Katleho Motingoe expressed her optimism for the future of hockey in Soweto.

"I'm excited for the future of hockey in Soweto. It has been a great start to our journey, and I can't wait to see how the Modified Hockey Programme will grow in schools and filter into the club."
