After their 3-0 demolition of Chippa United in the Nedbank Cup this past weekend, Nabi feels they are headed in the right direction.
Since the turn of the year, Chiefs have shown signs of improvement, and Nabi is pleased with the progress thus far.
"I would say that we still have a lot of work to do, a long road to go, and it's not like a false modesty, but we don't believe we are even half of the team that we dream of for Kaizer Chiefs," said Nabi.
"But the biggest certainty is that we are headed in the right direction, the players understand what they need to do, and we feel that they are coming together – honestly, the process continues."
This past weekend’s victory was Chiefs’ second biggest under Nabi, following the 4-0 win over SuperSport United in the Carling Knockout, but the Tunisian tactician has emphasised that they are not yet at the consistency level they need to be.
"I wouldn't say that this was our best game since the beginning of the season because we felt that at some point, especially the last 20-25 minutes of the first half, we didn't have control of the game and we let Chippa come at us with long balls, and we knew they were going to use that.
"But we believe, if we can improve in those little things and have control of the game for the whole 90 minutes, like being the team that decides the tempo of the game, when we need to accelerate and when we need to slow down, then that will be a consistent team."
