Bulls charge into Challenge Cup playoffs after thrashing Stade Francais

The Bulls produced a dominant display to beat Stade Francais 48-7 at Loftus Versfeld and charge into the Challenge Cup playoffs.

While the game was a dead rubber in terms of the Champions Cup as the Bulls had already been eliminated, they were able to qualify for a place in the Challenge Cup's Round of 16 after outscoring their French opponents seven tries to one.

The Bulls went in for their first five-pointer when they were awarded a penalty try early in the contest after Stade Francais flyhalf Louis Carbonel deliberately knocked-on close to the line.

Fullback Devon Williams and scrumhalf Embrose Papier then went over in quick succession as the hosts were 21-0 ahead after 18 minutes.

The visitors went over for their only points of the game when captain Sekou Macalou scored a try and Carbonel slotted the conversion.

The home side then scored a further two tries before halftime to take a commanding 36-7 lead into the interval.

The second half followed a similar pattern with Boeta Chamberlain and Cameron Hanekom crossing for tries that put the result beyond doubt.
