It's a new four-year Rugby World Cup cycle and Erasmus hit the ground running earlier this by announcing a raft of fresh faces in his management team.
Speaking to the press following the completion of the World Champions' first training camp of the year in Pretoria, Erasmus was happy with their integration with the team this past week.
"I've known Tony [Brown] for a long time," Erasmus said of the former All Black.
"I coached him at the Stormers. I know he is the kind of guy, and he did slot in quickly. He played for the Sharks and the Stormers, he knows South Africa. He knows how we think.
"Tony has experience that not a lot of guys have - from [his time in] Japan, but also in New Zealand. The All Blacks remain one of the top-ranked teams. So he brings a lot of excitement and knowledge.
"It can open some of our backline players' eyes to opportunities and utilising and using opportunities."
Englishman Jerry Flannery has also come on board as an assistant coach.
"Jerry coached with Felix [Jones] at Munster," added Erasmus.
"He is typical, hours and hours in front of the computer, very much in the mould of Jacques [Nienaber]. He can bring one or two exciting things to our defence system."
Finally, former international referee Jaco Peyper has come on board as a Laws and Discipline Advisor.
"I think having Peyps there for every training session, every scrum session, every line-out session [is important]," added the World Cup-winning coach.
"We are almost used to having a referee here who last year could've refereed the World Cup Final. So the new people in the management team are contributing in a way we want them to."
