The 34-year-old, who last ran out for the Springboks in 2017, enjoyed a stint with the Sharks until he signed for Premiership Rugby's Sale Sharks in 2019. Oosthuizen went on to make 94 appearances for the club, who recently made the Premiership final.
Now, the veteran prop - who can play on both sides of the scrum - is set to return to the Durban franchise.
Sale director of rugby Alex Sanderson bid Oosthuizen a fond farewell.
"Since he arrived in Manchester, Coenie has been a massive part of this team and this club and everyone is going to miss him," read a statement.
"On the field, he's a fantastic player but off it, he's been a real leader for us in what is a young squad. Everyone at Sale would like to thank Coenie for his contribution to the club and the team during his time here and we wish him all the very best for the future."
Joining the 30-time Springbok in the front row as new signings at the Sharks are fellow Bok Vincent Koch and man-mountain Ig Prinsloo. Former Cheetahs flyhalf Siya Masuka and talented Pumas centre Diego Appollis were also added to the books recently.
