Wallabies wary of Springboks' depth

Wallabies coach Dave Rennie has reacted to the Springboks' raft of changes while touching on his own selection ahead of their second Test in Sydney on Saturday.

South Africa suffered a 25-17 defeat to Australia in Adelaide last weekend and will be looking to make amends therefor by bouncing back immediately this weekend.

Currently bottom in the Castle Rugby Championship standings with four points from three matches played, Jacques Nienaber is looking for a response from a team featuring eight changes.

Though some of these were injury-enforced, Rennie is wary of the depth the Boks possess and insists they will not drop their guard based on the new-look opposition.

"Obviously the depth in the Springboks is phenomenal, a lot of those changes, I'd imagine some based on form and some base on injury," the 58-year-old said in his press briefing on Thursday.

"We've been through that as well, you just focus on who you've got and you get on with it. So, what we know is [that] it's still a quality Springboks side and there's a little bit of youth and energy included. So, we're well aware of the threat that they pose."

Meanwhile, the Wallabies will run out with an unchanged XV in front of a sold-out Allianz Stadium on Saturday (11:35am SA time), hoping to complete a double.

"It helps [to keep the same team], and it's good to reward the guys who played last week. We've got the same enemy and we can build on those combinations, which is nice. So, yeah, it's good to be able to pick the same XV," Rennie added.
