Back for a fourth instalment, the event is now the definitive music genre-based football tournament that will see Gospel out to defend their 2023 crown.
The unique concept twas born of an unintended soccer encounter between two prominent artists Khuzani and Big Zulu from two different music genres – Maskandi and Hip-Hop back in 2020.
Jammin 2 Soccer has since grown to include other genres such as Gqom, Gospel, and AmaPiano, and is fast attracting other creatives, such as actors.
Among the aims of the event is to use music to promote soccer and vice versa, driving social cohesion, creating awareness around mental illness in the creative industry, and Promote healthy lifestyle and fitness, to name a few.
Last year's edition saw Dumi Mkokstad’s Gospel football team walk away victors at UJ Stadium, with this year's Celebrity Games set to be held at Tsakane Stadium, in Johannesburg's East Rand.
The straight knockout showpiece will see Maskandi up against Hip-hop, captained by Khuzani and BigZulu respectively, before Gqom – captained by Dj Tira – take on Gospel, led by Mkokstad.
All matches will be broadcast LIVE on SABC 1.
