Borussia Dortmund squad update ahead of crucial Atletico Madrid clash

Borussia Dortmund's coach, Edin Terzic, provided insights into the team's status ahead of their showdown with Atletico Madrid.

In a press conference preceding Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final rematch against Atletico Madrid, coach Terzic shared updates on key players Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Sebastien Haller and Jadon Sancho.

Sebastien Haller, who limped off during Saturday's victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, faces another setck with an ankle injury. Terzic disclosed, "He will now have a week of complete rest. A final diagnosis will be made on Saturday to determine the length of his absence. We're expecting him to be out for two to three weeks,"

Bynoe-Gittens, also injured in the same match, is showing signs of improvement. "We hope he will be able to complete training with us," Terzic added optimistically.

Jadon Sancho, who missed the Gladbach encounter due to illness, returned to training and is set to feature in the squad against Atletico.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid will have to navigate the absence of Samuel Lino and Memphis Depay due to suspension and injury, respectively, with Saul Niguez and Thomas Lemar facing uncertainties.

Dortmund, trailing 2-1 from the first leg, aim to overturn the deficit at Signal Iduna Park. The club seek a spot in the Champions League semifinals for the first time since the 2012/13 season.

Reflecting on the previous encounter, Dortmund's performance fluctuated throughout. Atletico's dominance in the first half posed challenges, though Dortmund rallied, coming close to salvaging a draw with Julian Brandt's late header narrowly missing the target.
