Chiefs confirm Zuma exit

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that striker Dumisani Zuma has left the club but SABC Sport understands the player has already attracted interest elsewhere in the DStv Premiership.

Following months of speculation over the player™s future after he was suspended twice this season for misconduct, questions have been asked about whether he would join his colleagues who were offloaded on Wednesday.

Zuma joined Amakhosi in 2017 from Bloemfontein Celtic but has not been able to fight his way into the first team consistently - and the off-the-field issues have clearly also affected his overall contribution despite his obvious talent.

Earlier in May, the Glamour Boys confirmed yet again that the 27-year-old had been suspended from all football activities, but his agent and legal representative, Basia Michaels subsequently told SABC Sport that Chiefs had been negligent in communicating the decision.

Michaels said they were blindsided by the announcement and, later in a separate interview when asked to confirm if her client had requested his clearance, conceded that Zuma was likely to leave Naturena.

It has now been confirmed that the player is indeed leaving but it is expected he will soon have a new club in the Premiership.

Chiefs on Wednesday also released Daniel Akpeyi, Samir Nurkovic, Leonardo Castro and Lazarous Kambole, Lebogang Manyama, Kearyn Baccus and Daniel Cardoso, while Teddy Akumu has been placed on the transfer list.

Lee Baxter, the goalkeeper coach and son of former head mentor Stuart, is also on his way out with his contract set to run out at the end of this month.
