Real Madrid goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is anticipated to mark his first appearance for the club in Friday's away game against Celta Vigo.
Kepa was secured on a season-long loan from Chelsea to step in for the injured Thibaut Courtois. Interestingly, this move comes full circle, as Kepa previously took over from Courtois when the latter shifted from Stamford Bridge to the Santiago Bernabeu five years ago.
Having sat out the opening game of the season, Kepa occupied the bench alongside 18-year-old Fran Gonzalez during Saturday's triumphant 3-1 victory over Almeria.
Meanwhile, the role between the posts was entrusted to Ukraine international Andriy Lunin.
Nonetheless, multiple reports from Spain now indicate that Kepa is on the brink of seizing the opportunity to showcase his skills on the field for Madrid as they face off against Celta Vigo on Friday.
According to Marca, coach Carlo Ancelotti has been profoundly impressed with Kepa's performance in training sessions and is eager to witness the loaned goalkeeper's capabilities in live action. Kepa's loan deal doesn't include an option for a permanent purchase.
Ancelotti has recently confirmed his intent to establish a consistent goalkeeper for the season, rather than rotating between players.
