Dortmund's Julian Brandt after Leverkusen win: We're growing from such victories

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt has hailed the improvements made by the side after moving within three points of Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich.

Dortmund claimed a 2-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday courtesy of Karim Adeyemi's strike and an own goal from Edmond Tapsoba.

BVB have won all four of their matches in January and Brandt has reflected on an excellent month for Edin Terzic's side.

"A 2-0 in Leverkusen is an untypical result, but exactly what we need. Winning on the one hand, but also keeping a clean sheet and giving little away," said the Germany international.

"We tried to get stuck in as much as we possibly could. We're growing from such victories. It's been a good January which we can take a lot from.

"We now have a week ahead of us in which we can work on several details in training. That's slightly difficult in English weeks. We now have a home game with hopefully a top atmosphere and we want to continue the trend there."
