Enzo Maresca could start Chelsea youngsters against Shamrock Rovers

Chelsea will face Shamrock Rovers on Thursday night in their final Conference League group-stage match, with manager Enzo Maresca set to make key selection decisions.

The Blues have already secured qualification, boasting a perfect record with five wins from five matches, including a recent 3-1 victory over Astana in Kazakhstan.

For the Astana match, Maresca fielded a youthful side, leaving most first-team players at Cobham.

Promising talents like Josh Acheampong, Tyrique George, and Samuel Rak-Sakyi impressed, earning plaudits from Maresca for their performances.

The young players' contribution underlined Chelsea's depth and the manager's confidence in the club's academy prospects.

As the action shifts back to Stamford Bridge, Maresca has hinted at a blend of experience and youth for the Shamrock Rovers encounter.

While regular starters are expected to feature, players from the Astana victory could again be involved.

Speaking ahead of the match, Maresca dropped a "huge selection hint," suggesting the youngsters' performances have earned them consideration.

Marc Cucurella, despite his red card in Chelsea's Premier League clash with Brentford last weekend, is tipped to start.

"Could be, could be. We try to change players since we started. Tomorrow it's one more option for that," said Maresca.

This match provides an opportunity for Chelsea to maintain their flawless group-stage record while offering emerging talents another chance to shine on the European stage.

On Acheampong's recent contract signing, he added: "Very happy. With Josh it has been quite clear. He was with us in pre-season. I didn't know him personally, but after two, three days that he was there with us, he really impressed me.

"Since the pre-season, I was trying to understand a little bit the situation with him in terms of contract and these kind of things. Now finally, the club found an agreement with him and we are all happy because we are all convinced and sure that Josh can be a great player for this club.

"My personal opinion is that he has to stay close to us, so as much as we can keep him here (and not send him on loan) is much better."
