Folz: We should have won after 45 minutes
AmaZulu coach Romain Folz says his charges should have wrapped their MTN8 semifinal second leg up in the first half against Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday.
Despite the goalless draw at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday, Usuthu ultimately advanced to the final via the away goal rule, having held Amakhosi to a 1-1 draw in Johannesburg three weeks ago.
But Folz felt they could have progressed to the final more convincingly.
"I think that was a game we should [have] put to bed already after 45 minutes, knowing the chances we were able to create in the first half,"
"We knew that we were facing a good team, with a lot of quality in every department of the field, so I was very pleased with the way we approached thing tactically, and the way the boys were able to execute everything I wanted them to do from a tactical standpoint.
"Unfortunately we couldn't score in the first half, for many reasons - one of them being [that] we lacked a bit of aggressive mindset going into the box, it was a little bit too soft."
Folz guaranteed that Usuthu would reach a cup final for the first time since 2010 and the Frenchman now wants to build on that.
"At no point in the game did I feel the team was under threat. If we can keep the balance and be a little more clinical when it comes to finishing, there's a lot we can do."
They will face Orlando Pirates on 5 November at the same venue.
