Rolfo's anticipation was palpable well before the Sweden coach had even departed for Eden Park. Seated comfortably before her television screen, Rolfo, having concluded her midday meal, tuned in to witness her Barcelona comrades shine on the international stage, battling the Netherlands for a coveted berth in the FIFA Women's World Cup semi-finals.
Nine members of her Barcelona team, including Aitana Bonmati, Alexia Putellas, Irene Paredes, Mariona Caldentey, Laia Codina, Cata Coll, Salma Paralluelo and Maria Perez, in addition to the newly joined Ona Batlle, formed the bedrock of the Spain squad that clinched a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Netherlands in extra time.
With Spain's triumph secured, it's now a showdown between Sweden and Spain at Eden Park, Auckland, set for Tuesday.
"Naturally, I was quite anxious," Rolfo remarked to FIFA's official website. "These are not just teammates; they are dear friends I hold in high regard. Our bond at Barcelona is truly exceptional - a sentiment that words struggle to capture.
"In every match, I've been fervently cheering for them. Messages have flowed back and forth throughout the tournament - offering congratulations during triumphs for either side. Originally intended as my post-lunch relaxation, the viewing experience was anything but relaxing (chuckles). Nonetheless, their victory brings me immense joy.
"Initially, I wished them a successful journey in this tournament. Now, it seems they've ventured far enough! (laughs)"
Rolfo's laughter was an acknowledgement of the subsequent matchday, where she herself contributed to Sweden's remarkable 2-1 upset against Japan, setting up a mouthwatering encounter with her compatriots in the semi-finals.
"To find ourselves in the World Cup semi-finals is an absolute thrill," Rolfo declared. "Simply uttering those words evokes a sentiment that has been nurtured since my childhood dreams."
Rolfo had high praise for the Spanish squad, noting, "Spain boasts a plethora of exceptional players - a quality that sets them apart. Their ranks are not limited to a mere handful, unlike certain top-tier teams. A constantly shifting starting lineup keeps them fresh and unpredictable.
"They possess remarkable ball-handling skills and an innate preference for possession-based play. Grounded, rhythmic passes define their strategy, and they execute it splendidly."
A pivotal figure in Spain's tactical prowess is Aitana Bonmati, whose balletic grace and insightful playmaking have unraveled opposition defences at will.
"She is an absolute marvel," Rolfo extolled. "Among my closest allies on the team, Aitana is a force to be reckoned with. She enjoyed a stellar season with Barcelona, which she has seamlessly carried into this incredible World Cup journey.
"Aitana is a game-changer, endowed with unmatched ball control and a profound understanding of the game. Despite the chatter surrounding her, I still believe her contributions are undersold. Witnessing her on the field is truly astonishing."
As for Sweden's aspirations, Rolfo harboured no doubt about their capacity to triumph against odds, much like David challenging Goliath, and secure victory on the grandest stage.
"While we anticipate a formidable challenge, our past conquests over the US and Japan fuel our confidence," Rolfo asserted. "We now confront another formidable adversary, yet our current confidence is unshakable. While I cannot guarantee victory against Spain, I pledge unwavering dedication. Our performance against Japan has emboldened us, offering a substantial chance of reaching the final.
"Close encounters with major titles have inspired us. Our fervent desire now is to secure this championship for Sweden and our fellow countrymen."
