The talented player, who recently returned from a knee ligament injury suffered between January and March, now faces several weeks out due to a muscular problem in his right thigh during the Bundesliga clash against Cologne on 13 April.
Bayern confirmed the setback, stating, "He will be out for several weeks," dealing a blow not just to the club but also to Coman's hopes of representing France in the upcoming European Championship.
According to reports from 'L'Equipe', Coman's chances of making the French squad have significantly dwindled. The French outlet suggests that PSG's Bradley Barcola and Aston Villa's Moussa Diaby are being considered by coach Didier Deschamps as potential replacements for the sidelined winger in the 'Les Bleus' squad.
This latest setback adds to Coman's woes, having already missed 15 games this season due to various injuries. He now faces a race against time to regain fitness and potentially feature for Bayern before the season concludes.
However, his return seems likely to only coincide with a hypothetical Champions League final appearance for the Bavarian giants. Before that, they must navigate past Real Madrid in the semi-finals, a daunting task under the management of Thomas Tuchel.
With Deschamps set to announce France's Euro squad on May 16 and submit the final roster to UEFA by June 7, time is running out for Coman to prove his fitness and secure his place in the French contingent.
As the deadlines draw nearer, Coman remains focused on his recovery, aiming to make it to Germany for the Euros.
