Borussia Dortmund forward Jamie Bynoe-Gittens has revealed the emotional turmoil he felt after scoring in the club's 4-3 victory over Augsburg in the Bundesliga over the weekend.
The 18-year-old had been out of action for four months after suffering a dislocated shoulder injury in September 2022, and his return to the pitch was a highly emotional one.
In an interview with BVB TV, Bynoe-Gittens reflected on his return to action and the significance of his goal.
He said, "After four months of injury, to score a goal like this was the best thing that could have happened to me.
"I was so emotional and about to cry on the pitch. I didn't cry, but I was close to. That goal meant a lot to me."
The young forward has been highly-rated by the Dortmund coaching staff and his return to the team is a boost for the club as they look to maintain their position at the top half of the Bundesliga standings.
With his goal-scoring ability and determination to come back from injury, Bynoe-Gittens is sure to play a key role in the team's success in the coming months.
