Jose Riveiro vows to fight till the end

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro says they are going to fight till the end in the Betway Premiership, CAF Champions League and the Nedbank Cup.

Just two days after returning from Algeria, where they recorded a crucial 1-0 away win against Algerian log leaders MC Alger in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal.

Bucs also reduced the gap between them and log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns in the domestic league, down to 12 points with three games in hand.

They also play the Ke Yona semifinal against Marumo Gallants on Sunday.

"Yeah, nobody can question that we are not trying in each and every game. I mean we are not giving up in any competition, we want to win no matter what happens, no matter what the opponents do, we are gonna try to be at a level that we must be in each and every game and everything including the numbers, mathematics tells us that you cannot stop going up, we will try until the end, until the last day if it's possible,” Riveiro said.

“So, we knew that today and we played already a final and it's the same for the remaining games because we know how difficult it is to be at the top in this league and once again, we're going to try our best."

As Riveiro enters the last two months of his coaching stint at Pirates, having won five trophies and is in the running for three more, the 49-year-old says there’s not much time to reflect.

They are now focused on tackling future ambitions.

"We don't really have enough time in my position to think about yesterday, once we finish this time here, it's gonna be time for all of us to think about the journey. To look back, I'm so lucky I have a different job not everybody has the fortune to be sitting where I am, to represent a club like Pirates,” he added.

“To coach this level of players, to have this support behind and sometimes you don't even have so much time to realise about what we are doing currently because I'm gonna leave this room in a few minutes, I'm gonna sit in the bus and start to think about how are we going to beat MC Alger one more time.

“So, there's no really time right now to think about what we are getting because we are just thinking about getting more and more and more. We are ambitious people, we are competitive and we do not want to stop here."
