JVW held Mamelodi Sundowns to their first draw of the season, scoring a goal a piece at the University of Johannesburg Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Bedfordview-based outfit’s inconsistent form has seen them struggle to secure a spot in the top three, however, Swart says the team is working hard and promises to bounce back as the campaign continues.
"This season has been very, very surprising. We know there are a lot of teams pushing for the top right now, which is amazing for the league, so I would say the first quarter has been up and down, especially for us as JVW," said Swart.
"But I do think that we will find our stride and we will bounce back from the losses we;ve suffered in this first couple of games, and I do think there's a lot more for us to show.
"I'm just really excited for my team and for us as a club, we're growing day by day, so I think it's been a good start, but it can be better, and I just hope that as we continue in the league, we will grow and we will grind out the results that we need."
With a few surprises on the log standings, TS Galaxy climbed to fourth place with 21 points, while UJ Ladies raised their hands as this year’s title contenders as they moved to second place, but level with Mamelodi Sundowns on 25 points.
The Banyana Banyana star says her personal goal is to get a Goalkeeper of the Season nomination again, and admits that finishing inside the top three remains the team’s priority this season, despite their slow start.
"It's definitely trying to finish inside the top three again this season. We would love the Championship, but obviously that will be a tough task," she noted.
"But, ja, I have full faith in the team to finish in the top three, and I would love to be nominated for Goalkeeper of the Season again – obviously, clean sheets is definitely something that I hold highly, and I would love to gain more clean sheets in the season."
