Liverpool shot-stopper Alisson Becker leaves Brazil camp after head clash

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has left the Brazil camp after being involved in a heavy head-to-head collision with former Premier League defender Davison Sanchez in the Selecao's match against Colombia.

The incident unfolded when Alisson leaped to punch the ball away while Sanchez attempted a header. Both players crashed to the ground, leaving Alisson dazed and in need of medical attention.

The shot-stopper was visibly shaken following the impact and had to be substituted due to a suspected concussion.

Brazil's team doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, later provided an update on the keeper's condition.

"Alisson suffered a head trauma and was taken off due to a suspected concussion," Lasmar confirmed. "He will now undergo the full CBF concussion protocol, including imaging tests such as a CT scan and an MRI with diffusion analysis."

Despite the worrying collision, early signs were reassuring. "He is stable, has no complaints, and did not experience fainting or memory loss - though he did mention feeling slightly sluggish," Lasmar added. "If all tests return normal results, we will proceed with cognitive assessments and continuous monitoring in the coming days."

The injury came just moments before Brazil sealed their victory, with Vinicius Junior netting a crucial late goal.

With a high-stakes clash against Argentina looming on Wednesday, Alisson's availability remains uncertain. His recovery will depend on medical evaluations in the coming days, with Brazil's medical team taking every precaution before making a final decision.

Liverpool, who have already lost Ryan Gravenberch to injury during the international break, have confirmed that their number one gloveman is on his way back to Merseyside to undergo more testing.

"Alisson Becker has departed the Brazil national team set-up and will return to Liverpool," read a statement on the Reds' website.

"The goalkeeper was forced off in the second half of his nation's World Cup qualifier with Colombia in the early hours of Friday following a collision.

"Alisson is travelling back to Merseyside and will undergo assessment from the Reds' medical staff."
