It’s understood De Reuck has agreed to play for Maccabi Petah Tikva for the remainder of the season, with the deal up for review in July.
The transfer will not only potentially give the centre-back, who is represented by Siyavuma Sports Group, regular game-time elsewhere, but also open the European door.
De Reuck joined Sundowns from Maritzburg United almost exactly four years ago, following an impressive stint with The Team of Choice.
Sundowns got the player involved almost immediately as he managed a satisfactory 28 matches in all competitions after his move in January 2021, and he went on to force his way into the Bafana Bafana set up under Hugo Broos later that year.
With injuries having stalled his progress, along with some additions to the squad, the defender has not seen that many minutes at Chloorkop in recent seasons.
In his press conference on Thursday, Downs coach Miguel Cardoso confirmed they will be looking to find options abroad for players who’ve not featured frequently.
“We hold on to players because we feel at times that maybe we are not able to find solutions for them in the PSL, not because we don’t care,” he said.
“You will see that in the coming months we will work at resolving this and even maybe move some of them to Europe so they can market the club,.”
The 28-year-old has previously been on the books of FC Parcos in Portugal during his teenage years, before returning to South Africa.
