Kaizer Chiefs decide on new deal for Reeve Frosler

SABC Sport has established that defender Reeve Frosler has agreed a new deal in principle to remain a Kaizer Chiefs player.

The 27-year-old is nearing the end of his contract with the Soweto giants, and his quality and versatility would easily attract suitors elsewhere.

Frosler earlier told SABC Sport of his desire to remain at Naturena, with the final few months of his current contract a chance to prove his worth.

"I'd love to be here – I mean, Kaizer Chiefs, who wouldn't want to be at a club like this? It's a club I've spent a lot of time at and learnt a lot of things," he said.

"So I think I've still a lot to give to the club, but that decision does not only lie with me, I've got to do my part for the next few month."

Having joined Chiefs from the now-defunct Bidvest Wits in January 2019, the full-back almost immediately found his place at Naturena under then-coach Ernst Middendorp.

He has since been able to establish himself as a regular at Amakhosi, even with the coaches that followed in Gavin Hunt, Stuart Baxter, Arthur Zwane, Molefi Ntseki, Cavin Johnon, and now Nasreddine Nabi.

As highlighted yet again by Nabi over the weekend, following their 2-1 defeat away to Golden Arrows in the Betway Premiership, the Glamour Boys are still in a “transitional” phase.

But even in that stage, for a technical team that was assembled at the beginning of the season, Chiefs – the public broadcaster understands – view Frosler as a key member of the squad moving forward.

The finer details of the concluded deal is expected to be announced by the club in the coming weeks, but what SABC Sport has been informed is that Frosler is set to feature in Chiefs colours beyond June 2025.
