Nunez, who joined Liverpool in 2022 for an initial fee of 64 million pounds, potentially rising to a club-record 85 million pounds, has struggled to fully justify his price tag at Anfield.
The Uruguayan forward has managed just four goals and four assists in 26 appearances this season under new manager Arne Slot. With competition from the likes of Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota, and Mohamed Salah, reports suggest Liverpool are open to offers for the 25-year-old.
Recent reports indicate that Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal have made a substantial offer for Nunez, reportedly willing to pay him around 400,000 pounds per week, equivalent to over 20 million pounds annually.
Liverpool are said to have turned down an initial bid of approximately 70 million pounds, but speculation persists about Nunez's future.
Italian side AC Milan and Spanish club Atletico Madrid are also monitoring the situation. Milan had previously been linked with a loan deal involving an obligation to buy, but their interest appears to have cooled amid their focus on Manchester United's Marcus Rashford and other factors within their managerial setup.
Meanwhile, Spanish outlet Fichajes has claimed that Manchester United are now leading the race for Nunez's signature.
The Red Devils see the forward as an ideal fit for their tactical needs under manager Ruben Amorim, who reportedly admires Nunez's combination of strength, speed, and finishing ability.
"For United, this would not only be a key signing but also a powerful statement in the transfer market," the report noted. "Bringing a player from their fiercest rivals would underline the ambition they are pursuing."
With negotiations ongoing and interest from multiple clubs, Nunez's future could be decided in the coming weeks. A move to Old Trafford would undoubtedly add fuel to one of English football's most heated rivalries.
