Maritzburg United are hoping to build on their recent 1-0 win against Orlando Pirates when they host SuperSport United at the Harry Gwala stadium in Pietermaritzburg tonight.

After a slow start this season, the Team of Choice has picked up eight points from a possible 15 in their last five matches, which has helped them move up to eighth spot with nine points after seven matches.

Ahead of their fifth home game this evening, Maritzburg midfielder Travis Graham says they are also banking on their Friday night special crowd to carry them past SuperSport.

"Especially for our form that we've started with, I think that three points definitely boosted the confidence of the players," said Graham.

"I think we all have the talent and the team to do the job but, I think with this past result we got, we're definitely going to come out guns blazing and hopefully the fans can come out again and support us, and hopefully we can get the result."

So far, Maritzburg have won two matches from their last three games, overall, they have lost two and drawn two. It has not been an ideal start, but Graham says this being a new team - with a new technical team - things are starting to change.

"We're still a new team. Obviously John as well, coming in with his technical team so we're still adjusting, and that's going to take time. Most teams are lucky enough to get the go-ahead and start winning nine games in a row," he added.

"For us, it's been a little bit slow but, as you can see, we're starting to believe in ourselves, we're starting to believe in each other as a team and, ja, hopefully we can continue with that and pick up form.

"We just need a run of two or three wins and I think we'll be one of those tough teams in the league to beat."
