The Argentine coach, who was dismissed by Spurs in 2019 after guiding them to the Champions League final and securing three consecutive top-three finishes in the Premier League, is still regarded as one of the club's most successful managers in recent history. Although currently under contract with the United States until the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the US, Pochettino revealed that he still holds a special connection to his former club.
Having managed Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea since his departure from Tottenham, Pochettino emphasized that his relationship with Spurs' chairman, Daniel Levy, remains strong.
Currently, Tottenham sits 14th in the Premier League under manager Ange Postecoglou, and the club is on track for their lowest league finish since 2008.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Pochettino, 53, stated that he can envision a return to Spurs "one day".
"When I left the club, I clearly remember saying in an interview that I would like to come back to Tottenham one day," Pochettino said. "And that is still true. I'm in the USA right now, so I'm not going to talk about that. But what I said back then, even after six or five years, I still feel in my heart that, yes, I would like to return one day. We'll see about the timing, as Daniel said."
Pochettino also revealed that he continues to keep in touch with Levy, maintaining a strong personal bond despite the passage of time since their professional split.
"He's always there, and he will always be there," Pochettino explained. "But the professional decisions are a separate matter. After nearly six years and everything we went through together, it was tough because of all the emotional ups and downs we experienced. In football, it's hard for that not to affect the relationship. But we parted ways on good terms."
He added, "One thing was professional, and another was personal, and since the day I left Tottenham, we've continued to maintain a very, very good relationship."
