Morena Ramoreboli waiting on BFA as Jwaneng Galaxy name new coach

South African-born coach Morena Ramoreboli continues to wait for his official appointment as Botswana national team coach, as Jwaneng Galaxy name his successor.

The Botswana Premier League champions have confirmed Dutch coach Pieter de Jongh as their new head coach, after Ramoreboli was earmarked to take up a permanent deal with the Botswana Football Association.

After helping the Zebras qualify for their first Africa Cup of Nations in 12 years, the former Bafana Bafana caretaker coach confirmed he is aware of the developments at Galaxy, but says he has not yet signed with the BFA.

"To be honest with you, Bra V, I think it's a very tricky question to answer because, yes, it's true that there's a coach that's with the club, but I think it's more of an administrative question which I will also appreciate if my stable Brand Arc can answer," said Ramoreboli.

"Because I think it's more administrative, there are other things that I think, at this stage, is difficult for me to say until every administratively has been finalised."

Ramoreboli was brought in as interim Botswana coach in October last year to replace Frenchman Didier Gomes, and expertly guided the team to AFCON qualification alongside record seven-time winners Egypt.

Until recently, Ramoreboli had juggled both the Galaxy and Zebras jobs, and reveals negotiations between the three parties regarding his move are still ongoing.

"I was given the opportunity to help the national team to qualify for AFCON, which I felt we did good work in making sure we do that, and yes, there have been discussions between Brand Arc and the Botswana Football Association," he added.

"But it is also a matter of the two parties agreeing on certain things, and maybe that's when there will be a proper direction on how to take things going forward.

"But I also want to take the opportunity to thank the president of the BFA, Mr Tariq Babitseng, for the opportunity, and the technical committee, the deputy president, the CEO, the FA, and the Botswana Premier League and clubs.

"For me, I think the most important thing is to grow as a coach, and help football in the country to grow, but at the same time, like I said, for those dealing with administrative issues to be able to guide us in terms of what to say and what not to say."
