The former UWC captain left for Mexico’s Club Tijuana in January, joining a few of her Banyana teammates Hilda Magaia, Thembi Kgatlana and Sinoxolo Cesane in the Liga MX Femenil.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Motau says she’s grateful to be living in a miracle, still in disbelief that she managed to get a professional contract at age 28.
"It's one of the most difficult transitions I've ever had to make in my life, I didn't think I would get a pro contract at the age of 28, but it happened and I am living in a miracle," said Motau.
"I'm so grateful that it happened, and it's difficult but doable, and I hope I can do well as I realise the responsibility I have on my shoulders to make sure that other girls behind me, who are from South Africa, can get opportunities as well."
Motau says she is looking to be a regular starter for Tijuana, and wants to contribute to the team’s league success this season.
"I would love to make it to the Championship [play-offs], make it to the top eight – that's our goal for this season, and hopefully we win the league," she added.
"But for now, for me, it's just to find my find at the club and contribute positively – be a starter, those are the things I'm looking at."
Tijuana are currently 11th on the 18-team Liga MX Femenil Clausura table, with 19 points from 15 matches played so far, and resume their campaign on Sunday evening against Club America.
