Premier League champions Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Norwegian striker Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.
Haaland, one of the most sought-after forwards in the current market, will don the colours of City in the 2022/23 season after completing a £51-million (R1-billion) move.
The Citizens initially confirmed the club-to-club agreement with Dortmund on May 10 but had yet to finalise personal terms with the 21-year-old, until today.
"Manchester City are delighted to confirm the signing of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund," announced the club in a statement.
"The 21-year-old will join the Club on 1 July after penning a five-year deal which keeps him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2027."
Commenting on his move to the Premier League, Haaland, who scored 86 goals in 89 matches with the Black and Yellows, expressed his excitement at joining Pep Guardiola's exceptional outfit.
This is a proud day for me and my family, he told mancity.com after completing his move.
I have always watched City and have loved doing so in recent seasons. You cant help but admire their style of play, its exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me.
There are so many world-class players in this squad and Pep is one of the greatest managers of all-time, so I believe I am in the right place to fulfil my ambitions.
I want to score goals, win trophies and improve as a footballer and I am confident I can do that here. This is a great move for me and I cant wait to get started in pre-season.
