Patrik Schick return key as Leverkusen aim to upset unbeaten Inter Milan

Bayer Leverkusen could be boosted by the return of Patrik Schick for their crucial Champions League clash against Inter Milan on Tuesday.

The Czech international rejoined team training on Monday, after missing the team's 2-1 victory over St. Pauli on Saturday due to a calf injury sustained in Leverkusen's 1-0 DFB-Pokal win over Bayern Munich the previous week.

Schick's participation in the squad for the match against Inter remains uncertain.

The forward is a key player for Xabi Alonso's side, having scored nine goals in 18 appearances across all competitions this season. His potential return could provide a significant lift for Leverkusen, who have found their rhythm with five consecutive victories in all competitions.

However, the task ahead will be tough. Inter Milan are yet to concede a goal in the Champions League this season and remain unbeaten.

The last time these two teams met was during the 2019/20 season in the Europa League quarter-finals, where Inter secured a narrow 2-1 win to advance.

For Leverkusen, Amine Adli (broken leg), Victor Boniface (thigh), and Jonas Hofmann will still be unavailable.

Schick's return is uncertain, with Nathan Tella likely to continue filling in if he is not deemed fit for a starting role.

Inter, meanwhile, will miss Francesco Acerbi (hamstring) and Raffaele Di Gennaro (broken finger), with Benjamin Pavard (hamstring) also a doubt.

The Werkself are aiming to extend their winning streak and cause an upset against an Inter side that is yet to drop points in the competition.
