SABC Sport has learnt from sources close to Esteghlal that they have received a 24-hour notice to pay within 24 hours or Mosimane and his technical team, will terminate the contract.
SABC Sport reported recently that Mosimane’s management team MT Sports had been engaging the newly appointed management at Esteghlal, with the view to resolve the non-payment issues that have plagued this relationship in recent months.
It’s also been established that to pull the plug on this non-payment issue, Mosimane and his technical team of Maheer Davids (assistant coach), Kabelo Rangoaga (Physical Conditioner), Kyle Solomons and Musi Matlaba (Performance Analysts), had given the club until the end of business today, to pay their salaries, or be met with the termination of the contracts.
“The notice to the club was sent yesterday, and they had 24 hours to respond to it, or consider terminating the contract. The ball is now in their court and remember this is a matter that has been reported to FIFA as well,” the impeccable source close to the club, told SABC Sport.
Mosimane joined Esteghal in October 2024, and they are currently 11th on the log, with 19 points from 17 matches, and only six points outside the top five in the PerGulf Pro League.
Mosimane, the most successful football coach in South Africa, and in club football in Sub-Saharan Africa, has won a case of non-payment at FIFA against his former Saudi Pro Division club Al Ahli, whom he promoted to the top division.
SABC Sport reported two weeks ago, that Mosimane and MT Sports had decided to stay put in Iran despite the non-payment of the salaries.
This was also around the time when the 15-day waiting period for FIFA was still in effect.
“Up to now, the coaches have still not been paid, yesterday was Wednesday, I think it was day 15 according to the FIFA law, where you have a team 15 days to pay or you’ve got the right to terminate.
“I have spoken to the coaches, and the decision for now is not yet to terminate, to give them more time because of the changes in the club’s management,” MT Sports Managing Director told SABC Sport two weeks ago.
SABC Sport reached out to the club and Mosimane’s management team and they were not available before the publishing of this story.
This is a developing story that will be updated.
