Born 3rd of June 2000, Kundananji is a Zambian professional footballer currently playing for Bay FC, having just transferred from Madrid CFF becoming the most expensive female player in the planet. Her journey started at the age of 18 when she joined the Indeni Roses and quickly showcased her exceptional talents, helping lead the team to victory in the league championship with an impressive record of 21 goals in 18 games.
In 2018 her determination and skill were rewarded, and the opportunity was given to represent Zambia at the African Women’s Cup of Nations. Kundananji quickly becoming a household name nationally and started drawing eyes globally, and in 2019 BIIK Shymkent, a team based in Kazakhstan, leapt at the opportunity to add her to the roster, kick starting her professional career.
Kundananji’s career continued to flourish, and when finally given the chance to play in the more prestigious Spanish league, eagerly snapped at the chance and rose to the challenge. Starting at Elbar in 2022, and later moving to Madrid CFF, she became Madrid’s player of the month after scoring an astonishing 25 goals in a single season.
World-Record Breaker
On the 13th of February 2024, a new contract with Bay FC was signed and with it, Kundananji’s name was etched into record books. Following the agreed transfer fee of £735,000 ($787,800) Kundananji’s became the first ever African player (male or female) to break a world transfer record, replacing Mayra Ramirez, who previously held the record at £500,000 ($535,772), becoming the most expensive female player on the planet.
