The Portuguese international has been instrumental in midfield and is set to be rewarded with a new contract that will keep him at the club for at least two more years.
There was speculation that the 29-year-old would leave Dortmund when his contract expires at the end of the season. However, the club has been impressed by his performances, and according to Ruhr Nachrichten, a new contract offer will soon be made.
Guerreiro's recent form has been outstanding. He has scored two goals and provided seven assists in his last five Bundesliga appearances, while his switch to central midfield has brought much-needed dynamism to Dortmund's play.
Despite attracting interest from other European clubs, Guerreiro expressed a preference to stay at Dortmund beyond his contract expiry. Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has confirmed that contract talks are ongoing.
"It was said weeks ago that Raphael Guerreiro would leave us. That is not the case," Kehl told Kicker. "We are still in talks, and everything is still open. We have given it some thought."
Guerreiro joined Dortmund from FC Lorien in 2016 for ¬12million and was initially deployed as a midfielder. He has since become a regular at left-back and has been a key figure for the club.
The decision on his contract extension could be made as early as next week. Dortmund looked set to bring in Ramy Bensebaini from Borussia Monchengladbach on a free transfer, but Guerreiro's recent form suggests he still has much to offer the club.
